Quite a good weekend, we explored a bit ourselves... on saturday morning we went up to Kaliurang, which is about 45 mins out of Jogja, towards Mt Merapi. We got the bus and it was hilarious (as they usually are!)... it was like a mini bus we just flagged down and squished in with all the other passengers, poor thing was probably 40 years old lol i dont know how it was still working! we got about half an hour up the road and stopped at this little town so the bus driver could do his shopping at the market! and on the way back, we stopped so the bus driver could get his dinner, lol.... no real concept on being on time here! no rushing.
It was really nice at Kaliurang, we went for a walk up in the forest, to a couple of lookouts but still Merapi was covered by cloud :( i sort of remembered the way from last time i was there, so that was lucky, there were no signs on the paths lol! we had lunch there then just sat by a dam or something and chatted for a while. there were millions of fish there, ive never seen so many in one place! wheres a fishing rod when you need one... the water looked pretty dodge tho lol.
Sunday was Jess bday so we all went along and got a massage in the morning... it was pretty nice but pretty intense! we werent too sure what we were getting in for, cos a friend of jess' booked us in but it was actually a massage and creambath (a head massage and avacado hair mask!)... it went for about 2 hours all up and they styled and dried our hair too so we all came out with pretty and curly hair... i dont think indonesian hair curls so they went crazy on us! the massage was a bit tough tho, my muscles are aching a bit today! the women were chatting away in indonesian... im sure they were talking about us! After that we had lunch and had a lot of trouble hunting down a chocolate birthday cake... in the end we settled for some custard and peanut pastries and sung happy birthday in the bakery cafe lol. We spent the afternoon at the Jogja Plaza, lying by the pool, i had a bit of a doze... We went out for dinner at a restaurant called Hani's north of the city (we were telling everyone it was called Honeys, so lucky they all made it!) Nice food but little bit expensive... almost $5 for a meal! crazy!
