Interesting day.... feels like it went forever tho! Bit sleepy... think ill just have dinner close by with somefriends then head home for an early night (yawn...). Have to be up early tomorrow for the beach trip! Yay... looking forward to it so much :)This morning I went out to a kindergarten to help out with one of their english "classes". It was great fun... i loved it! I got a taxi cos i didnt know the area very well, Im getting pretty good at directions and pointingand tapping on the window lol. The main street here, Jalan Kaliurang, doesnt have numbers, its just known by thekilometres (cos it goes for about 20 km). Ie, I live at 5,5km and had to go out to 7,5km for the school. Its prettyeasy, taxi drivers know the area by the km rather than landmarks so if you dont know somewhere its usually ok... but still 7,5km is a pretty general area, and because I hadnt been there before, we were just crawling along lookingfor the school... turns out it was in the suburbs a bit and had arrows so it was pretty nice. I arrived at the school about 8... and it was like this peaceful paradise amongst the houses and fields, a beautiful school, verycolourful and welcoming. Id organised it all by sms, very modern for Indonesia lol, and so didnt know who exactly I was looking for but the teachers were all lovely. I sat in with a kinder class which only went for about 40mins, the kids dont have a very long attention span lol, but it was great fun. Ive learnt to imitate the teachers'sing-song voices and encouragement for the kids. It was lovely, theyd learnt all these lovely songs, like "GoodMorning to You" (Happy Birthday tune), and "How are you today" songs. It was very cute. My role was kinda just totalk them thru stuff, colours it was today, and they only know 5 so it was a bit of fun. They asked me to comeback next week, and if i can do a couple of saturday mornings in the preschool too... the director even wantedme to help out with her kids one afternoon! So I have a couple of books, some basic stuff theyve been basing it onand am thinking about more ideas. Sometimes its hard to make things simple! Great tho, short and sweet :)I caught the bus out to the shopping mall and was pretty happy cos yesterday I got the wrong bus (people here dontlike to correct you, so they all agreed it was the right one when i got on lol) and had to taxi back in the rightdirection... but today i did some shopping, beach towel and exciting things like that! and had the most deliciousiced hazelnut latte...mmmm.... im getting a bit addicted to frozen coffee drinks i think!Ive been involved in the planning of an international symposium at uni here, and the time has come for it to actually go ahead lol... i agreed to be a guest seater so today had to go out to the markets and buy a traditionalbatik-patterned skirt. Its very pretty but now i have to get some formal sandals to go with it... feel like a bitof an imposter lol! I needed an overnight bag for the beach trip so i got that and a sarong while i was there. Oftenthe market street is crazy, people hassling you and it gets really tiring, but today was ok. I bargained a bit,butdidnt have much energy. People were nice and it wasnt too hard so I came home pretty happy! Im just accumulating more stuff by the day...
