Immigrasi dan sekolah

We had to report to immigration yet again on Wednesday... i dont know, ive never seen so much paperwork! We got fingerprinted yet again and had to sign for our student visas. Saw my passport tho, so it must be almost ready!I ended up going along with one of the guys from uni, to sort out his kos, as he hasnt been able to move in yet. Heis taking the lower level class so was a bit worried about talking to the owner, who didnt speak much english, soI said Id go and help. It was good, I think if you go into things with a friendly and good attitude, people arenice, they repeat stuff and everything flows smoothly. It was nice, I came out feeling nicely confident and happy,it went better than when I organised my own kos! Guess it depends on the situation and people, some times conversations are a wonderful success and sometimes you cant understand a word!Didnt have any classes in the afternoon so yesterday went out to Bantul with a couple of student teachers to takepart in their english class... they seem to just hang around where there are white people and hope to snag someonebut these girls were really nice, and so I agreed to go along with one of the other guys, Enrico. Bantul is a townoutside of Jogja, which was hit really bad by the earthquake last year. The girls were saying heaps of NGOs andforeigners swamped the place to help then but theres not many around now. You can see a little damage, but fromwhat i could tell, its been rebuilt pretty well. Such a nice place! It was about 45 mins by motorbike there, butno speedhumps or anything so it was quite comfy... rides can vary so much depending lol. It was so hot tho, we arrived at the school and i was just dying from heat. The kids there were really nice, it was so different tothe school I went to in Kota Gede a couple of weeks ago. They werent so friendly there, and they didnt know muchenglish so it was really hard to talk about australian culture and education. I think maybe last time there weremore demands and expectations, but this time, the girls just asked us to come along and meet people. It was fun, there were four or five classes in the room i think, and we sat at the front and had a chat and questions and stuff. It was good to have someone to share it with, me and Enrico swapped the microphone and questions, so it went really well. The kids talked in english, and we talked about half english, half indonesian. I really enjoyedit, such a nice place! have to go back, they are really big on handcrafts and carving and things and theres lotsof rice paddies, which i love... so typically indonesian! I think one weekend ill just head out to one of the "tourist" villages and meet people and learn how they do it, fascinating (rice paddies are the fields with water in them, they have the crops in perfect lines, and do everything by hand). A couple of the girls dropped us backto jogja and we stopped for bakso (noodles and meatballs) on the way...

One of the coordinators of the acicis program and his wife are moving to australia soon so they had a going-awyaparty at parsley, one of the restaurants close by... we practically live there lol... go the wifi...
