Dr Paulos

Went to a wonderful doctor last night, just to get some malaria (preventative) tablets. It was so easy! I just showed up (no such thing as appointments here lol) and the receptionist took my temperature and blood pressure while we had a nice little chat then I went straight in and it was so easy! He spoke english really well so we had a bit of a chat, he wrote up a chart for me and wrote a prescription then I went to the chemist (conveniently out the front of the surgery!) and filled it... lol try going to the doctor for $5 here and getting a prescription for $1... sounds dodgy but I looked it up on the net- it really is malaria medication- and besides, when malaria prevention is so big here, of course it would be cheap :) I was waiting in the chemist and a white person walked in! He smiled and said "Gday"~ i was speechless but got a hello out. So long since Ive heard a gday! Lol... and had a great chat with the taxi driver on the way home, its such a massive confidence boost when you can have almost constant conversation for ten minutes! And then theres the times when I cant even understand "Whats your name?"... sigh... so tricky!

Cheaper meds are 'real' too - that's what the PBS is all about.

Having said that - I'm not going through all this torture for $5 a consultation...

Thanks for msg, keep up the prophylaxis,
